Environmental measurements and analysis

Sampling and analysis provide information on the state of the environment and changes in it.

01
Soil sampling and analysis Soil samples are used to examine the composition of soil and to spot any harmful substances such as heavy metals or pesticide residues.
02
Water sampling and analysis Water systems, such as rivers, lakes and seas, can be examined for their nutrient (phosphorus and nitrogen), heavy metal or chemical contaminant concentrations. Samples are used to examine surface water, groundwater or sea water, focusing on e.g. nutrients, bacteria, pollutants or contaminants.
03
Air quality measurements Air quality measurements look at concentrations of particles, nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide in areas where air quality is significantly affected by transport or industry.
04
Emission measurements Measurements are used to determine the amount, quality and distribution of the activity’s emissions into the environment. Air pollutants, noise emissions, wastewater quality and any harmful substances that may end up in the soil can be measured to see if they adhere to the limits set in the environmental permit.
05
Noise surveys and measurements Noise surveys and measurements help planning the noisiest functions in the early stages of the project. Measurements are also used to determine how the noise caused by activities spreads in the environment and how loud it is, for example, in residential areas. You will receive a list of recommended actions based on surveys and modelling that help reduce noise in the affected area.
06
Visualizations and landscape surveys Landscape surveys have been expanded to cover wind power, solar power and industrial projects. The survey describes the current state of the affected area and uses that to assess the area’s sensitivity to changes. The impact assessment focuses on issues such as the duration and extent of the changes and the direction (positive/negative) and magnitude of the impacts.
